Question by askin46: Trying to install Xp on dell inspiron1721, I pass the “system is analyzing your configuration” it goes blank?
I tried putting the xp cd and it just does not want to fully boot up! Usually it goes to a blue screen on other computers and then lets you choose options for reformatting and installing Xp but nothing shows just a blank screen. Oh reason I want xp because i got the “A disk read error press Ctl+ALT+del to restart system” HELP PLEASE!!
PLEASE READ everything before answering! My hard has an error message to begin with and os does not boot up.

Was vista on this machine before? IF it was put vista back on or you will have to find drivers for everything. And some drivers were not written for xp if it came with vista.
