Question by indi: Can you go to jail for not helping to pay for an abortion? A psycho chick is threatening my friend!?
Her story is sounding increasingly more fishy – 1st, that she can’t go to a regular clinic and must go to a hospital because it is a “high risk” situation; 2nd, that the hospital does not accept checks/credit cards, ONLY cash (WTF?) which she’s asking him to give directly to her; 3rd, that it MUST be done tomorrow for some odd reason (this would be her 6th-7th week) and he cannot come with her to the hospital; and now that he is saying that he doesn’t have the money to help her, she is saying that he could go to jail… I personally think she owes somebody some money and is trying to scam my friend, but is there any truth to what she is saying?

I am concerned that what she may actually mean is that by not giving her the money, he is vulnerable to her accusing him of raping her, etc… I have told him to maybe go to the police because now at this point, she is making harassing phone calls and demanding the cash, threatening him, etc. He is afraid to call her out on this bogus story because she lives 4 doors down from his mom and who knows what kind of crazy problems this chick is going to create. I said him going to the cops first may safeguard him against any fake rape charges or whatever she may be scheming. She is going to great lengths to get this money, but claims her “boyfriend” can’t know about what is going on. I just don’t want any further trouble for my bud. Any plans of attack?

She is definitely scamming your friend. You can’t go to jail for that.

Also. They don’t take cash.. They prefer to have a debit/credit transaction.
If cash is all you have then they will write up a receipt as well.

she is scamming your friend if shes really pregnant then tell him he will only pay for the abortion if he goes otherwise he aint paying shes probably not even pregnant just faking it to get money of him
Wow. Sounds like she is just trying to get money. I would really actually question if she is indeed pregnant. Because he won’t go to jail for that,and yes he can come to the hospital with her.
I think that she is lying. Since I think she is lying, I am wondering if she is even pregnant. Sounds like she is trying to scam him out of money.
I have never, ever been to a hospital that doesn’t take a credit card. He should find out the name of the hospital, have call them up himself (just ask for the billing department) and ask if they take credit cards.
i dont know i know a guy who had to pay over $900 dollars from 3 girls to have an abortions.

She is treading a fine line here — all sounds totally fishy to me. Hospitals HATE cash transactions, she has many more weeks (even months) before an abortion cut-off date, so it seems that your hunch is right. I don’t think she’s pregnant. Steer clear of this ‘friend’.
No, not in any way , shape or form. Next time she says she is going to have him arrested, tell her to go ahead and have fun trying. The reason she might be wanting to have it done by then however is so she can use the pill (before the 8 week cut off) and that costs less.
ETA Sadly, for those women who actually are raped every year, it is very hard to prove such things. I agree with letting the Police know what is going on BEFORE she goes and does something stupid. Also if you can save a text from her saying that they willingly had sex then that can be used in court should you need it.
That definitely sounds like this girl is being dishonest. If indeed her situation necessitates a trip to the hospital, there are no legit hospitals that only accept cash. Hospital bills are massive–no one carries thousands of dollars in cash on their person. That would be irresponsible. If she doesn’t want him coming with her to the hospital, you could argue that she wants her privacy–but in this case that’s not what I think her motive is. If she didn’t want to get pregnant she should have taken more responsibility for herself and made sure that either they used a condom or she was on some form of birth control. An abortion, if she really does need one, is her decision. They’re not married, I take it, so any legal action she can take is quite limited. I would bet money that she’s trying to milk your friend for all he’s worth. Good luck, hon.
